Here is an overall view of our 90% completed
chassis. We will install the rear axles and engine prior to mating the body.

Here is a fine example of a completely rebuilt front end. We decided to go all out and install disc brakes, which will give it a nice European touch.
With the rear end 90% assembled, our lonely transmission cries a tearful request to be mated with her life-partner Mr. 1500 c.c. once again.
Here is a good example of what happens to a floor pan when left at the powder coating fac-
ility on a Friday! Basic-
ally, the entire area that
meets the heater chan-
nel was flattened. The region was straightened, and special iron based
putty was used to rem-
edy the low spots.
Clear cadmium:
Notice the silver-white sheen.
Black oxide cadmium:
Clear zinc: notice the silver-blue hue.
Yellow-gold cadmium: this is actu-
ally a NOS bolt that we had laying around the shop. Most yellow-gold cadmium plated hardware is used for areas exposed to salt or corrosive chemical conditions (such as brakes).
The real workhorse of Wolfsburg West exposes her inner ab-
rasive side in the form of tri-
angular shaped ceramic media. We used this tumbler to clean/
/polish our hardware components prior to cadmium plating. The
use of a tumbler will greatly im-
prove the overall luster of the finished electroplated product.
